Every page on your website should have it’s own keywords. First you need to decide on your ‘Keywords’, see the upcoming blog on how to do this. Keywords are the words you choose to describe your page. They will be used to match those to customers looking to find your product during their internet searching. ’On Page’ is done while composing the actual website pages. It consists of the steps below. It is important to use your keywords in a natural way and not over do it. Keywords should be around 3% of the page copy. Body copy lenght is best when at least 400 words per page.

On Page SEO:

The most important place to put the keywords is in the title of the page.

Place them in the copy, as close to the top of the page the better.

Use them in the page’s header tags/li>

Use them in the link text, at the top of the page if possible.

Use keywords in the image file names.

Off Page SEO:

To pass your competition’s page-rank, you first must see how well they have developed THEIR backlink structure. Then, you work to surpass it. I use Market Samurai to easily find this information. It will compose a list of this information, including how many pages are linking to a site, what words are used in these links, and the value of each link. The value is between 0-9, and is based on that link’s page rank. High value sites tend to be .gov and .edu. and are usually around a page rank 6.

Blogs, Twitter, Facebook, Yelp, You Tube, Press Releases, and articles with the domain name in it as well as local links will help bring people to the site and increase the page rank. Google has designed website’s page ranks to reflect the popularity and great content it has. The more articles with links to the site and the more people that click to visit the site the higher the page rank will be. One great technique is article writing and spinning it to many different article sites. But, remember, this time don’t put the keywords in the title, it will work against you.
